The All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) is a yearly college entrance examination in India. The exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in several medical colleges around the country. Presently, 15 % of the total seats in all medical and dental colleges run by the Union of India, state governments, municipal, or other local authorities in India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, are reserved for candidates who qualify this Examination. AIPMT is equivalent to All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), which is also conducted by CBSE for entrance to engineering colleges in India.
Date of Examination :
First Sunday of April for Preliminary Examination.
Second Sunday of May for Final Examination.
Eligibility Criteria :
Age should be 17 years at the time of admission or before 31st December of the year of admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./ DENTAL Course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL. Only those candidates who are not more than 25 years of age are eligible for AIPMT. However, in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by five years.
Candidates who have passed (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination or will be appearing in the same in current year. Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination may also appear in AIPMT for consideration of provisional admission. The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50 % for General Candidates.
The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Pre—Medical/Pre—Dental Entrance Examination shall be limited to 3 [three) uniformly for all the candidates.
Exam Pattern :
1. Given below is a table that depicts subject combination for each paper and type of questions in each paper.

Scoring & Negative Marking :
Preliminary : For objective type questions there are four options with single correct answer. Each item carries 3 marks. For each correct response the candidate will get 3 marks. For each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score. No deduction from the total score will be made if no response is indicated for an item in the Answer Sheet.
Final Exam : (Only for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination) the Final Examination will have conventional (non—objective) type of questions to be answered in the Answer Book supplied.
MP PMT :
Pre Medical Test is state level medical entrance exam conducted at State level.
Eligibility and Examination pattern are same as AIPMT except -
Students from Andhra Pradesh / J & K are not eligible to appear as both these states had opted out of All India scheme. But the students of these states can claim eligibility by submitting an affidavit in original attested by First class Iudicial Magistrate that they are not eligible to compete for MBBS/ BDS seats in Andhra Pradesh and J & K, or that they
are not domiciled in Andhra Pradesh and
J & K.
